چکیده

Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) is an important forage source for livestock, while wild cassavas (maniçoba and pornunça – Manihot sp.), native from Brazilian semi-arid have the potential to feed ruminants in drylands. We hypothesized that maniçoba a chemical composition morphophysiological responses similar cassava cultivars. Nine plants were evaluated, six accessions (BGMS 20, BGMS 21, 22, 26, 79, 102), 24) two cultivars (gema-de-ovo [GO] engana-ladrão [EL]). evaluated 6-month crop cycles under completely randomized design with four replicates. The genotype 20 had higher shoot biomass than 24, EL, GO, as well leaf mass EL GO. Photosynthesis, temperature, stomatal conductance, transpiration among genotypes (13.83 µmol.m-2.s-1, 29.90 ºC, 0.12 mol.m-2.s-1 2.75 mmol.m-2.s-1, respectively). crude protein content others, except 21 24. Genotypes did not differ concerning situ vitro (dry matter (DM)) degradability mineral composition. 24 number of leaves taller other genotypes, 22. In gas production was considering total carbohydrates. Wild showed biomass, physiological responses, compatible cultivars; therefore, they show alternative forages livestock.

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF ESSENTIAL OILS OF SOME CONIFEROUS PLANTS CULTIVATED IN EGYPT

Family Cupressaceae is the largest coniferous plant family. Essential oils of many species belonging to family Cupressaceae are known to have several biological activities specially antimicrobial activity. The essential oils from aerial parts of Calocedrus decurrens Torr., Cupressus sempervirens stricta L. and Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl) Mast. were prepared by hydrodistillation. The chemical ...

Chemical Composition and Antimicrobial Potential of Selected Medicinal Plants

Different extracts from five medicinal plants were investigated for their antibacterial and antifungal activities by agar diffusion and microdilution methods. The extracts selectively exhibited antibacterial effect and the most active was the aqueous-acetone extract of Euphorbia balsalmifera against the Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia and Pseudomonas aeruginosa wit...

Variations in the composition of gelling agents affect morphophysiological and molecular responses to deficiencies of phosphate and other nutrients.

Low inorganic phosphate (Pi) availability triggers an array of spatiotemporal adaptive responses in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). There are several reports on the effects of Pi deprivation on the root system that have been attributed to different growth conditions and/or inherent genetic variability. Here we show that the gelling agents, largely treated as inert components, significantly ...
